Hailing from the South Hills of Pittsburgh, Joyce is the Office Manager of the North Side office of Stunkel Tax & Accounting, PC. She loves to talk to a client whether they call her or she’s calling them.
After graduating from Mercyhurst College in Erie, Joyce taught bookkeeping for three years in the Pittsburgh Public School System. She and her CPA husband, Bill, raised two children and then Joyce decided it was time to rejoin the business community.
She completed a Master Degree from St. Francis College, as she puts it, “while having a house, a husband and two kids”. No mean feat working full-time at an iron foundry on the South Side in Human Resources and studying for her Masters at night. Joyce likes to say that after teaching and wearing steel-toed boots, she can tackle anything!
When the steel industry collapsed and with two teenagers at home, Joyce joined the firm of W. J. McChesney, CPA and became the Office Manager. This gave her the opportunity to be a working mother who was able to fit her work schedule around the kids' schedules. She had the best of both worlds – motherhood and business woman.
Joyce can be found answering correspondence, writing up tax returns for data entry, designing a spreadsheet, or acting as a liaison between our clients and our employees. Between wearing multiple hats and being both an employee and the former owner of a small business, Joyce has a unique understanding of the needs of our clients.
After 20 years of running a public accounting office, she can help steer you to the answers of whatever questions are keeping you up at night.
Amy Mannerino graduated from St. Vincent College in 2007, having studied English and Communication, including Business Writing.
Since graduation she developed a professional background in writing, editing, customer service and advertising sales management. Before joining Stunkel Tax & Accounting, Amy worked in and managed a group within the classified department of Trib Total Media. Her years of experience there helped her hone her editing skills and attention to detail, and to develop an appreciation for meeting the needs of the clients.
Amy lives in the North Hills area with her husband, Nick, and their two cats, Rocco and Bob. Currently she helps coordinate events as an officer for the Pittsburgh chapter of the Jane Austen Society of North America.
At Stunkel Tax & Accounting, Amy assists with correspondence, organizing data, clerical duties, and other tasks needed to provide the services clients have come to appreciate.
April is the Staff Accountant of Stunkel Tax & Accounting, PC. She travels between the Penn Hills/Monroeville and North Side offices. She has more than nine years of experience in public accounting and enjoys helping clients by tackling accounting issues and being a key problem solver.
April knew at a young age that she wanted to be an accountant. In her senior year of high school, she participated in the Professional Experience Program (PEP). With this program, she went to the accounting department of RJ Lee Group, Inc. in Monroeville, and was able to see what an occupation as an accountant was all about. April enjoyed the accounting environment so much that she stayed with that company for a total of four years while going to school.
After earning her B.S. degree in Accounting at Point State Park University in Pittsburgh, she obtained a position as an accountant for W.J. McChesney, CPA, in Penn Hills. Through her nine years of employment, she developed a great deal of experience in public accounting. She has taken a number of continuing education courses discussing business and individual tax issues as well as 30 hours of training in QuickBooks.
April can be found preparing payroll, 1099s, sales tax, and business and personal tax returns. In her free time, she enjoys swimming and spending time with her family and friends.
Tammy Ashley has been with Stunkel Tax & Accounting, PC since September 2016. Tammy has a long history of professional tax preparation which dates back to 1994, when she started out with a national chain while stationed with her husband in North Dakota. When they returned home after 15 years in the Air Force, she continued to work for the same national company and went to school to get a degree in Accounting and Taxation. After graduating with High Distinction, she decided to further her credentials and become an Enrolled Agent.
To become an Enrolled Agent, Tammy had to independently study and pass a three part test that is written and given by the Internal Revenue Service. This was completed in February of 2013. An Enrolled Agent is able to represent clients to the IRS if there were ever an audit. To maintain this status she is required to have 72 hours of continuing education every three years. The majority of these credits must be in taxation and ethics.
Tammy has experience in the preparation of Individual returns, processing payroll and payroll tax returns, sales tax returns, updating accounting records, reconciliation of accounts, and training employees.
In Tammy’s free time she enjoys camping with family and friends and spending time with her two daughters and grandchildren. She also has a love for almost every animal and currently has four dogs that have been rescued. They range in size from 80 pounds to 10 pounds. Tammy also enjoys almost all crafts and will try almost anything. During the summer while camping she enjoys flying radio controlled Quad-Copters. One day she hopes to be able to take one to the Grand Canyon and take pictures.
